City Centre Wardens

The Wardens are at the core of Lincoln BIG services and aim to provide a warm welcome for visitors, and provide safety and security to our levy paying businesses, and properties. The Wardens ensure a visible presence on the streets within the area and act as the eyes and ears of Lincoln BIG, they report any street issues to the appropriate authority if the work is outside Lincoln BIGs usual activities, this ensures the streets and other areas are clean, maintained, and welcoming.

The wardens act as a welcome host for visitors and customers of BID member businesses and provide a daily link to members through a variety of supporting interactions this allows them to develop a relationship with businesses in the area and ensure the businesses understand the range and breadth of services available to them thereby becoming an ambassador for the company.

They also provide a maintenance role by keeping the BID area free from graffiti and other detrimental impacts. and carrying out DIY and maintenance tasks such as mechanical cleaning to remove chewing gum and maintaining the street furniture including painting of lamp posts, bollards and railings and checking and maintaining any benches. They are also trained in First Aid and defibrillator use and, through their contact with the CCTV team, are often the first line of support to arrive at an incident.

Lincoln BIG's project Manager Yvette is proud of the services the wardens provide to the city: "The Wardens provide a much appreciated Security presence to the businesses.  This is predominantly as a deterrent to prolific criminals who know the Wardens well, but also as a support when dealing with and reporting incidents of crime and ASB and providing radio accessories and training to the businesses when required.  They work closely in partnership with the City Centre Policing Team as well as the PPASB (Public Protection and Anti-Social Behaviour) team from the City of Lincoln Council to combat any City Centre issues".
