Local Radio Star Joins Pantomime Cast
Local radio presenter, John Marshall, is set to join the cast of New Theatre Royal Lincoln’s Christmas Pantomime, Aladdin, for one day only on Saturday 9th December (performances at (10.30am, 2.30pm and 7pm).
Star casting for the theatre’s Pantomime, which runs from Tuesday 5th December 2023 – Sunday 7th January 2024, was announced earlier this year with Olympic Gymnast, Strictly Come Dancing winner and The Masked Dancer champion Louis Smith MBE playing the role of Abanazar. He will be joined by Strictly Come Dancing legend, and the Fairy Godfather from last year’s Christmas Pantomime, Ian Waite as Sultan Cha-Cha-Cha, and star of West End productions including Disney’s The Lion King, The Blues Brothers, and Thriller Live, Roger Wright as the Genie of the Lamp.
With Ian Waite unable to perform on Saturday 9th December, due to prior commitments, the theatre went on the search for a replacement and are thrilled to welcome local radio star John Marshall to the cast. One of Lincolnshire’s most popular radio presenters with almost 30 years of broadcasting under his belt, John will be swapping the studio for the stage as he performs the role of Sultan Cha-Cha-Cha across three performances.
Ahead of his appearance, John commented, “When Lincoln’s longest running, traditional Christmas Pantomime at the historic New Theatre Royal told me they needed a chubby man who can’t sing, dance or act, to sing, dance and act… I knew it was the job for me. Three performances, one day only, a cast of brilliant professionals and me, trying his best. See you there!”
Don’t miss this genie-tastic adventure, with everything you could wish for in a Christmas pantomime, at Lincoln’s treasured Victorian theatre. Tickets are on sale now with some performances already heading for a sell-out.
