Lincoln Creates Transforms Wigford Way Bridge!
James and Luke will be transforming the wall from the 22nd – 26th August.
James Mayle, along with fellow artist Luke St Clair-Pedroza, from Graffiti art specialists, Imageskool have been commissioned by Lincoln BIG - Lincoln Creates 2022 to paint a 20-metre mural underneath Wigford Bridge. The design concept will include themes of heritage, industrial revolution and canal workers. It will also reference popular Lincoln events, incorporating a Steampunk Twist to the design.
James and Luke will be transforming the wall from the 22nd – 26th August. Whilst the work of art is in progress everyone is encouraged to visit and watch the bridge be transformed!
This project has been made possible with the support of Lincoln Creates 2022. Following his successful application to the programme, James was awarded a grant of £3,200 from the Lincoln Creates fund. Lincoln Creates is a Lincoln BIG initiative which aims to support new creative art projects in Lincoln city centre – promoting collaboration between artists and local businesses. Projects such as this one have been made possible with a proportion of the funds raised from the public auction of the Lincoln Imps in 2021.
The Wigford Way Bridge makeover is also being supported by the Lincoln branch of Marks and Spencer, who are offering their facilities to the artists throughout the week.
This new mural compliments James’ previous work on the opposite side of the bridge that was completed back in 2019.
