Cast your eyes to the sky to catch a glimpse of gigantic monsters this October half term!

Following the success of City of Lincoln Council’s first event under the Events in Lincoln brand, Lincoln Live, Lincoln Monster Invasion has now been launched

Taking place from 23-29 October, visitors to Lincoln Monster Invasion will get the chance to see Lincoln from a whole new perspective...

During the half-term break, supported by Lincoln BIG, a total of eight gigantic inflatable monsters will invade Lincoln's rooftops from Castle Square, all the way down to the University of Lincoln.

As night falls, the monsters will illuminate to give visitors an opportunity to follow their glow for a spooktacular evening tour around the city.

This event follows on from the successful Lincoln Live music event which saw 12 up-and-coming BBC Music Introducing artists perform in the city’s Cornhill Square on 2 and 3 September. For those who missed the event, highlights can be found on BBC Sounds here.

Cllr Naomi Tweddle, Portfolio Holder for Inclusive Economic Growth at City of Lincoln Council said: “Following our fantastic flagship event, Lincoln Live, we are delighted to announce further details for the Lincoln Monster Invasion taking place during October half term.

“Through significant consultation with residents, visitors and businesses, free activity during holidays for families and adults alike was requested and the monsters have proven incredibly popular in other cities nearby.

“During the day, the monsters are already impressive, spanning up to 7 metres high across rooftops, but they really come to life and give a new perspective of the city at night.

“Alongside enhancements through live entertainment during the weekend and Frequency Festival returning from 26-29 October, Lincoln Monster Invasion is set to be a fantastic event for all.”

Simon Beardsley, Managing Director at Lincoln BIG added: “Lincoln BIG are delighted to support this event, bringing new life to the city centre during Halloween.

"We believe these giant inflatable monsters will be a brilliant addition to the city during half term, offering some light-hearted fun in Lincoln driving footfall to the area and supporting local businesses.

“With monsters around every corner in the City Centre, located on various landmarks and iconic buildings, the Lincoln BIG team look forward to this new trail and hope everyone gets the chance to experience some seasonal fun with this spooky makeover!”
